Contenuti | Il corso è inteso come un intenso percorso dinamico nella storia della moda e del design del Novecento. Attraverso un costante raffronto con le questioni sociali, tecniche e culturali, vengono studiate l'evoluzione del linguaggio degli abiti e la produzione dei protagonisti della moda internazionale, muovendo dall’affermazione della moderna figura del “couturier” in Francia alla fine del XIX secolo, fino alla nascita del ready to wear in Europa e alla concreta affermazione dell' "Italian style" nel mondo. |

Obiettivi formativi | Obiettivo essenziale del corso è quello di acquisire piena consapevolezza delle principali fasi dell'evoluzione della storia del design e della moda del Novecento, cogliendone gli intrecci con lo scenario socio economico, la cultura artistica e la produzione industriale. |
Prerequisiti | Lo studente in ingresso dovrà avere conoscenza della periodizzazione storica, come pure nozioni base di storia e di storia dell'arte. |
Metodologie didattiche | Lezioni frontali con proiezione di immagini che verranno esaminate criticamente anche con il diretto coinvolgimento degli studenti, al fine di arricchire le loro abilità nella contestualizzazione delle tematiche della storia della moda e del design nell’ambito della storiografia di settore. |
Metodi di valutazione | La verifica dell'apprendimento prevede una prova scritta, articolata in domande a risposta aperta, svolta a circa 2/3 del monte ore dell'insegnamento, che si svolge in aula per la durata di 1,5-2 ore; e, inoltre, un colloquio orale durante il quale si presentano anche gli elaborati di approfondimento concordati come esperienza pratica di lavoro a integrazione della parte istituzionale del programma. |

Contents | The course is an intense dynamic journey through the history of twentieth-century fashion design. Through a constant comparison with social, technical and cultural issues, the evolution of the language of clothes and the production of the protagonists of international fashion are studied, starting from the affirmation of the modern figure of the "couturier" in France at the end of the nineteenth century, until the birth of ready-to-wear in Europe and the concrete affirmation of "Italian style" in the world. |

Course objectives | The main goal of the course is to reconstruct the principle phases of the evolution of the design and fashion history, capturing the intertwining with the socio-economic scenario, artistic culture and industrial production. Also important is the acquisition of an adequate critical ability in the reading of social and creative phenomena linked to the fashion of the twentieth century, with particular attention to figures and movements that have defined the successes of Made in Italy in the world. |
Prerequisites | The incoming student must have knowledge of the historical periodization, as well as basic notions of history and history of art. |
Teaching methods | Lectures with projection of slides that will be critically examined also with the direct involvement of the students, useful to enrich their skills in the contextualization of the themes of the history of fashion in the sector historiography. |
Evaluation methods | Written test, oral interview and analysis of the elaborations agreed with other teachers of the courses. The works are aimed at expanding the basic bibliographic and critical knowledge in the history of fashion design, both in the theoretical and operational aspects. It will be possible speak about some images choose by the professor, also. |
